Carnegie-Mellon University Federal Credit Union Chooses 1800MyLogo To Design Their Corporate Identity

March 21st, 2001 - 1800MyLogo, a successful and notable graphic design firm that provides corporate identity solutions to individuals and enterprises, has announced that it will be working on the development, design and implementation of a comprehensive corporate identity solution for the Carnegie-Mellon University Federal Credit Union.

The credit union, which was founded over 60 years ago, has never owned a corporate identity of its own. As a small local credit union, the establishment's visionaries have come to the conclusion that in order to remain distinct and to establish a much broader awareness of their institution as well as the services it offers, the creation of a solid corporate identity solution was imperative and urgent.

The Carnegie-Mellon University Federal Credit Union is a non-profit, member owned, financial institution that services the faculty, staff, and graduate students of the renowned Carnegie-Mellon University located in the city of Pittsburgh. Membership is also available for assigned employees of Central Properties Services, Marriott Corporation, and Structural Steel Painting Council (SSPC). Immediate family and household members, and pensioners of the above organizations are also eligible for membership. The credit union is federally chartered, regulated, and insured by the National Credit Union Administration.

The Credit Union's manager and CEO stated that the identity solution they are anticipating must be "something that the Credit Union can carry with it for many years to come." The goal of this project is to develop a sort of local brand with a non-intimidating marketing plan that will enhance the Credit Union's "family" bank philosophy, which is a philosophy they have promoted for years.

The influence of the Carnegie-Mellon University must somehow also be worked into the design aspect of the identity, yet at the same time taking care to keep in mind the Credit Union's non-university related clients and the manner in which they fit into the Credit Union's identity needs. The challenge in this project lies in successfully combining aspects of the two establishments (the University and the Credit Union) under one effective umbrella identity that will bring together the different groups that make up the Credit Union's clientele.
