Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Selects 1800MyLogo To Create New Logo.

January 15th, 2001 - Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. has hired the services of 1800MyLogo to create the logo for their Facilities Management Unit. The unit includes: Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Refrigeration Experts, Mechanics, Sheet metal Workers, Machine Repairmen, and other types of Maintenance personnel.

The Facilities Management Unit is an important and integral part of the Sheriff's Department. It was time to give the Unit its own identifier - a logo that will let other staff and other divisions know that they are the Facilities Management Unit. The new logo will also provide a real sense of belonging and empowerment to the employees of the unit. The new logo will be used on uniforms, stationary and possibly a web page.

The Sheriff's Department of Los Angeles County was formed in April of 1850. Today with 8,088 sworn personnel and 5,298 civilian employees in an area of 3,161 square miles, the LASD is the largest Sheriff's department in the world. The Department's Facilities Management is an important unit responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the entire department's facilities, including prisons and sheriff's stations.

Creating logos for departments of large cities is a very specialized task. Not only must the identity incorporate aspects of the department, but it must also show its connection to the city.
