Mazda Raceway selects 1800MyLogo to create identity for new brand name January 9th, 2003
- Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, CA, selects In a move that highlights its "Zoom Zoom" brand positioning, Mazda North American Operations has inked a title sponsorship deal with the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula to become the title sponsor of Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. With this agreement, Mazda becomes the first auto manufacturer to be the title sponsor of a major motor-sports facility. "Laguna Seca is America's premier road racing facility and one of the most recognized road courses in the world," said Charlie Hughes, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. "By renaming it the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, we are demonstrating our commitment to the company's Zoom Zoom brand positioning." Monterey, CA, is located in a beautiful peninsula and, among other interesting activities and events, it hosts the popular Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Laguna Seca race track has been in existence since 1957. During its 44 years, Laguna Seca has established itself as the premier road-racing track in North America. Worldwide, it is mentioned in the same breath with other historic tracks such as Le Mans, Indianapolis, Monaco, and Brands Hatch to name a few. The track is famous not only for its rabbit shape, but especially for the challenging corkscrew turn, a special viewing area and turn at the race track. This famous downhill quick-left-and-quick-right of the corkscrew is a one-of-a-kind experience, according to a lot of race drivers who compete in this race since years ago. When talking about raceways, we
think about cars, motorcycles, speed, challenging and dangerous maneuvers, courageous
drivers, spectacular individual competition and team spirit. The logo design will depict
all these feelings and sensations, as well as will appeal to targeted special spectators.
Conveying the adventure, the difficult situations that drivers have to deal with all the
time during races, will be a challenging and interesting task for our Graphic Artists and
Project Coordinators. The colors and design style will make the new identity look powerful
and moving forward in an adventurous way, while its image will be associated with the
